17-30 Mar – Simon and Wayne have returned from an invaluable training package on the Hardangavidda national park in Norway.

The Norwegian logistical chain worked seamlessly as always, transferring from Oslo airport to the rail station for a 4-hour relaxing and scenic journey to Finse.

Hosted by our friend and legendary explorer Borge Ousland, the location was ideal for our crevasse awareness and emergency drills. Big thanks to Bard Helge for his fantastic technical knowledge and support.

Finse being the chosen training ground of Shackleton, Scott and Amundsen, the local area provided ideal terrain for a few days of hauling our 70kg sleds before setting off for the historical town of Rjukan in the Telemark region..

Although constrained by daylights, we skied for 10 hours daily covering distances of 25km to 30km comfortably, and the tent drills were efficient and slick after just a few days of refinement.

We are where we want to be at this stage of our preparation.
